Private property access does not remove hiking basics: ask staff which routes are currently appropriate, do not set out alone without telling someone, carry navigation and water, and turn around before heat, weather or daylight makes the return unsafe.

Guests may use designated 4x4 and cycling routes under the camp’s present conditions. Use your own vehicle or bicycle only on authorised tracks, drive for the terrain rather than the view, and ask about current route, weather and wildlife considerations. Do not leave roads to chase animals, create a new track or assume that a dry riverbed is a safe shortcut.
Wildlife in a Managed Karoo Setting
Giraffe, kudu, gemsbok, hartebeest, klipspringer, wildebeest, aardwolf and other animals may be encountered on the property, alongside rich birdlife. They are wild animals within a managed private setting, not a guarantee on a short drive. Keep food secure, leave enough space for an animal to move away and do not approach wildlife around chalets or water.
Birding and the Wider Beaufort West Area
The property’s Karoo birds can reward patient observation, and Beaufort West also offers access to cultural history and the nearby Karoo National Park. Use binoculars, stay quiet and consider booking an experienced local guide if birding is the main purpose of the trip. A guide can turn a landscape that appears empty at first glance into a remarkably active one.
Self-Catering Means Plan the Essentials
Chalets, a pool and shared camp facilities make a comfortable base, but guests should confirm their unit’s actual equipment, food plan, load-shedding arrangements and arrival instructions before a long drive. Keep children supervised near water and wildlife, and follow the property’s current pet policy rather than assuming animals are suitable on every activity.
