Botswana's hiking trails are fewer in number than other regions on SA Hikes, reflecting the country's character: this is primarily flat wilderness and bushveld rather than mountain terrain. Walking here tends to be guided wilderness walking in concession areas or self-guided routes in the Tuli Block, where the Limpopo floodplain meets fossilised dune country and baobab woodland.
For a regional overview, see Discover Botswana. For the protected areas where these routes are found, see Botswana Reserves.
Botswana's reserves are defined less by fences and more by scale. The Okavango Delta concession areas, Moremi Game Reserve, Chobe National Park and the Central Kalahari Game Reserve between them protect one of Africa's largest intact wilderness systems. SA Hikes lists Botswana reserves with information on their landscapes, access and the walking opportunities within each.
For the hiking trails themselves, see Botswana Hikes. For a regional overview, see Discover Botswana.
